In the world of natural cookery, the pantry reigns supreme. It is the backdrop for everything you prepare. It is the foundation of health when it pertains to food. It seems to the unknowing cook that these ingredients should not make that much difference in the taste of the final product and health is elusive - potentially you can’t even tell, so why spend the money? When I owned a restaurant, so often customers would comment how great they felt after eating at Fresh Thymes and how could the food be so good with so few ingredients? The secret: the natural chef pantry.
There are two sides to the idea of cleaning out your pantry when you shift your diet to be more health supportive and eat the food nature intends us to. Personally, I strongly feel that when you shift your entire food spectrum to health supportive choices, you are sending a powerful signal to your psyche, an energetic signature that THIS is the foundation of your daily life, the way you feed yourself, your family and community. Always and forever. Often, people straddle two pantries really - the “healthy ingredients” mixed with the crap. That is a Diet du Jour centric strategy.
